It's a stir-fried noodle dish made with a sweet-sour-umami sauce of tamarind, fish sauce, and palm sugar, and it usually includes vegetables with the addition of a protein like tofu, shrimp, or chicken. The name pad thai comes from the Thai word phàtthai, which means "Thai stir-fried food." Pad Thai is believed to have originated in Thailand during World War II.

The ingredients needed to make Padthai Tofu:
  1. Get 200 g rice noodles
  2. Take 2 tbsp cooking oil
  3. Prepare 1-2 eggs (optional)
  4. Take 1-2 cloves garlic
  5. Take Half pack of beans sprouts
  6. Prepare 4-5 tbsp Crushed peanut (optition)
  7. Get 100 g hard tofu
  8. Prepare 1 lime/lemon
  9. Prepare 1-2 tsp chilli flakes
  10. Prepare Padthai sauce
  11. Make ready 3 tbsp palm sugar or brown sugar
  12. Get 3 tbsp tamarind paste
  13. Make ready 2 tbsp fishsauce
  14. Take 1 tsp soysauce
  15. Get 4-5 tbsp Crushed peanut (optition)

I added diced red pepper and opted for chicken instead of tofu (but tofu would have been great!). I will definitely make this again and will make if for guests during a "theme night. Once done put tofu into oven until pieces are golden & sizzling. Once the tofu is done cut into small cubes.

Instructions to make Padthai Tofu:
  1. Soak the noodles in a large bowl with hot water. Leave it for about 10 min so they start to soften.
  2. Mix the Padthai sauce base together in a small saucepan. Put the heat on medium heat and stir until sugar dissolve and sauce become a little thicker for about 8-10 min.
  3. On a big pan or wok, medium heat, add cooking oil in, garlic and stir well
  4. Chopped up tofu into chunk side and add into your wok. Cook for 1 or 2 minute until the tofu crisp up.
  5. Add noodle into the same pan along with Padthai sauce, put 1-2 crushed peanut in, add some fish sauce or sugar or tamarind if needed and taste. Padthai should taste sweet, sour, salty and nutty. Stir well for about 10-15 min or until noodles cooked through.
  6. Move your noodles on one side of the wok, add 1 tbsp of cooking oil and add some eggs in. Leave eggs to cook through for a few minutes before mix through with the noodles. Stir well, then add half of bean sprouts and crushed peanut if you prefer.
  7. Serve this delicious Padthai noodles with a wedge of lime and chilli flakes. You can have bean sprouts on the side too for an extra crunch.

Once done put tofu into oven until pieces are golden & sizzling. Once the tofu is done cut into small cubes. Cook rice noodles according to package directions. Pad Thai is a noodle-based dish that you'll often find served with some permutation of chopped peanuts, bean sprouts, scallions, and sometimes carrots, cilantro and/or a wedge of lime. It's often served with tofu, shrimp, or chicken.
